GMG Airlines, the only airline in Bangladesh to serve international destinations, is one of the most famous private airline companies based at the Zia International Airport in Dhaka which is completely owned by the GMG Group of Companies. Founded in 1997, GMG Airlines initiated functioning on the 6th of April, 1998 with its domestic and international operations on the 8th of September, 2004, with operating a flight from Chittagong to Kolkata. On 20th October, 2006, GMG Airlines started regular operations to New Delhi, Bangkok and Kathmandu.

It initiated its service to Kuala Lumpur on the 24th of January, 2007 which was improved with its five times a week flights to Kuala Lumpur. At present the major hubs for GMG Airlines are New Delhi, Kolkata, Kula Lumpur, Kathmandu and Bangkok. Future plans have also been made by GMG Airlines for beginning its operations in Doha, Dubai, Singapore, Karachi, Kuwait, Muscat and Abu Dhabi. The domestic destinations covered by GMG Airlines include Barisal, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, Dhaka and Sylhet. GMG Airlines has changed the idea of domestic as well international air travel with its remarkable service and endeavors to improve. At GMG Airlines customers are offered first class service, first class safety, first class reliability and first class comfort.
Flights operated by GMG Airlines arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Each year, several Bangladeshi passengers quite frequently travel by GMG Airlines from Dhaka to New Delhi. These passengers come to India for different reasons, some come on business, some for professional reasons and some for spending holidays in New Delhi.
