Indian was launched on August 1st, 1953 under the Air Corporations Act, 1953 only after the enforcement of Indian law to nationalize the whole Indian airline industry. Indian began operations along the domestic routes and Air India started operating along the international routes. In the initial years of the 1990s the supremacy of Indian saw its downfall with the beginning of the process of "economic liberalization" by the Indian Government. In spite of the introduction of the low-cost airline companies, like Air Deccan, SpiceJet and Kingfisher, Indian is till date regarded as one of the most popular and profitable airlines. In India, Indian only has got Airbus A320 equipped with double gear bogeys which helps it to access, harsher and smaller flight landing areas.
